In this project I was required to make a mashup. This mashup could be made with images, video and audio or all together.
Comparing my work to the tests of part A, I can see that I followed the specific criteria relatively well. I have a fully original mashup created, I have used different finished products and combined them in my mashup, I used video, imagery and audio and I followed the fair use policy.
I think that the people who are going to be impacted by my mashup are going to be the people who are long time fans of the movie but also users of the music. People who have loved Dead Snow for a very long time might look at this trailer as a total humiliation but others may look at this as a great opportunity to spread the video around. The people who love the music that I used will just laugh at it’s usage.
My product could be improved by adding sound effects such as a punch or a guy shouting or zombie sound effects. Another way my product could be improved by adding parts of other zombies movies to add more comedy and maybe some funny random confusion.
Looking at the design cycle, I can see that I started off with investigation at a bit of a wrong pase. I didn’t really work all that hard on that since I really didn’t enjoy doing that. The design phase of the cycle went a lot better. I was working on it and just more and more images just poped into my mind giving me great ideas for my mashup. Even with the flow of ideas, there was one idea that just dominated the others which was my final product. Then the planning phase was really easy since I already had a good image in my mind, it was really easy to do this part of the cycle. The create phase was the best part of the cycle because of the image that I had in my mind for the product. While creating, I had troubles finding good images because there were many images that I could use. The only thing that I added in pretty late was the text that had to be added in.
Going through all the work that I have done, I feel like I have learned a lot on how to create a successful mashup and how to plan for it.
