Last week, we had to audition for the grade 9 drama play. Its called The Vampire or The Bride of Death. We had to read the script in class and choose which character we would like to audition for. I chose the character Sir Edward. Once we had decided on what character we wanted, we had to prepare a monologue that would need to be presented towards the class in order for the rest of the class to see if you are good enough for that character. My monologue was about my feelings. At first I was just doing what I could in order to stay alive but at this point in time, my emotions have taken over and i’m not sure of what to do. I think that my monologue overall went pretty well, however I do think I was too repetitive and I didn’t stick with the same lines for the different styles. Another thing that I could have changed would be my physicality. I was not very open and melodramatic in the sense that I limited how much physicality I had in the audition. Lastly, even though I am pretty good at changing my personality in the blink of an eye, I could practice more in making the personality change much more powerful and clear.
